CRA was tasked with finding a larger and more efficient centrally located food grade distribution center for this global food company. The location had to be able to accommodate housing finished product for national distribution, and allow regional distributors to fulfill their daily route requirements. Time was of the essence based on promised package product delivery dates nationwide.
CRA quickly identified square footage, dock position/distribution, transportation, and layout requirements. CRA only considered submarkets that would minimize transportation costs, including turn around time from the food production facility to the new food grade distribution facility, while lessening the impact on regional route distributors. CRA was able to timely locate and negotiate favorable terms, at an existing facility, that maximized Mission’s ability to store product and successfully accommodate national and regional distribution needs.
By quickly identifying an existing food grade facility that minimized transportation and housing finished goods costs, while simultaneously allowing for improved national and regional product distribution, Mission Foods was able to fulfill its national and regional product orders uninterrupted. More importantly the new +/-160,000sf facility, based on terms negotiated by CRA, minimized any impact the new facility would have on Mission’s budgeted real estate and transportation costs, while still being able to accommodate projected growth.
